  • Have you recently applied for an exemption online? Please wait 8-10 weeks. Our staff must review your application and documents and verify your eligibility. When this process is complete, you will receive an email from our office that will say whether the application has been accepted ("Completed") or had to be denied ("Declined"). Learn more about exemptions administered by the Assessor's Office.
  • Looking for property tax refunds? If you think you and your mortgage company both paid the taxes for the same installment, resulting in a double payment, you may be eligible for a property tax refund. Search for refunds and learn more about the Treasurer's "Black & Latino Houses Matter" program by calling the Treasurer's Office at (312) 603-5100 or visiting Please note: the Treasurer's Office issues, collects, distributes, and refunds property tax bills. The Assessor's Office does not have access to this payment information.
